Enabling a Password
The single most important thing that you can
do to protect your phone is to configure it to require a password for
access. To enable the password requirement, return to the lock screen
and complete the following steps:
1. Scroll to the bottom of the screen and set the Password slide bar to On.
2. When prompted,
enter a numeric password. You can use the Show Password check box to
make the password visible as you type it, if necessary.
3. Tap Confirm Password and re-enter your password.
4. Tap Done.
Don’t Forget Your Password
If you use a password with your
Windows Phone 8 device, be careful not to forget it. There is no way to
retrieve a lost password. If you forget your password, you will be
forced to reset the device to its factory defaults, which means losing
your data and having to redownload your apps.
