Restoring Your Backups

Microsoft does not provide direct access to your backups. You can access your backups only if you are setting up your phone for the first time (you can reset your existing phone or replace it with a new phone). During the initial configuration process, Windows Phone 8 asks if you want to connect to a Microsoft account. Assuming that you use the same Microsoft account that you were previously using, you can restore your backup by following these steps:

1. The phone asks whether you want to start fresh or restore your backup. Tap your backup.

2. Tap Next.

3. Tap Next on the Preparing to Restore screen, which tells you how the restore process works.

4. Wait for the initial restoration to complete and then tap Next.

Enable Wi-Fi Immediately!

When you restore a backup, your Wi-Fi connectivity is not restored as part of the App List+Settings restoration. You must manually configure your Wi-Fi connectivity—and you should do so quickly, to avoid excessive data charges.
