Adding a Visio Web Access Web Part to a page
Visio diagrams can be embedded on SharePoint pages using the Visio Web Access Web Part, using the following steps:
-
Navigate to the site that contains the page that you want to add a Visio Web Access Web Part.
-
Place the page in edit mode.
-
To display the Web Part page, complete one of the following actions:
-
On a wiki page, on the Insert tab, click Web Part in the Parts group.
-
On a Web Part page, in the web part zone where you want to add the Visio Web Access Web Part, click Add A Web Part.
-
Under Categories, click Business Data, and then, under Parts, click Visio Web Access, as shown next.
-
Click Add.
Note
You can customize the Visio Web Access Web Part by using the Visio Web Access tool pane, as shown in Figure 5.
You can open the tool pane for a newly added Visio Web Access Web Part
by clicking Click Here To Open The Tool Pane. Alternatively, on the Web
Part Ribbon tab, click Web Part Properties in the Properties group.
The Visio Web Access tool pane contains the standard three web part
headings (Appearance, Layout, and Advance) and three Visio Web
Access–specific headings:
-
Web Drawing Display
. This section allows you to specify which Visio drawing to display and how to display it, by modifying the following options:
-
Web drawing URL
. In the text box, either type the URL to the Visio
file whose diagrams you want to display in the web part, or click the
ellipsis button to navigate to the SharePoint library where the file is
stored. When you are using web part connections to provide the URL of
the Visio file, leave this text box blank.
-
Force raster rendering (applies to VDW files only)
. If the person viewing the Visio web drawing has
Silverlight 3.0 or later installed, the web drawing will be rendered
using Silverlight. Otherwise, it is rendered as an image file in
Portable Network Graphics (PNG) format. If you would prefer that the
web part never use Silverlight, even if Silverlight is installed on the
viewer’s computer, select this option.
-
Automatic refresh interval (in minutes)
. When
the Visio diagram is connected to an external data source, you can have
the web part check the data source periodically to get the latest data.
Type the number of minutes you would like for the interval between data
refresh attempts. By default, the data is not automatically refreshed.
Values must be integers and greater than or equal to 1. Leave this
option set as 0 (zero) if you prefer that users refresh the data
manually by clicking the Refresh button on the diagram viewer. As high
refresh rates on frequently visited pages may affect performance, a
SharePoint server administration can throttle this on a per Visio
Services service application level by using the Minimum Cache Age
setting.
-
Fit all shapes in view
. Use this option to make the entire diagram visible in the browser window.
-
Index of the initial page to show
. Use this text box to type the page to display in a
multi-page diagram when the page is first displayed in the browser. By
default, the value is 1.
-
Expose the following shape data items to web part connections
. When you configure the web part connection, you can
send the shape data of selected shapes to other web parts by specifying
in this box the data fields to send. Type the data field names
separated by semicolons.
-
Toolbar and User Interface
. The options available in this section of the tool
pane are tools that are available to the diagram user, with the
exception of the Show Default Background option. When Show Default
Background is selected, the background of the web diagram is gray. When
the option is cleared, the background is transparent. The other options
in this section are:
Users will still be able to perform some of the actions using the
mouse or keyboard shortcuts. To disable functionality completely, use
the options in the Web Drawing Interactivity section.
-
Web Drawing Interactivity
. Use
the options in this section to remove tools from the UI that you don’t
want users to see by clearing the check box beside those items. The
option in this section are:
-
Disable Zoom
-
Disable Pan
-
Disable Hyperlink
-
